Helena Farrell is a writer based in West Cork, Ireland, where she lives with her husband and cats. She works as a healthcare teacher in adult education after a 20-year career as a nurse. She is the founder of the Millbrook Writers Group in Bandon.

Helena’s work is inspired by the landscape, her love of sea and nature. The inner rhythms of rural life in the valley she lives, very much informs her work, as does preserving traditions/stories of an older generation. An avid reader, Helena supports and enjoys Irish writers, counting Michael Harding, Kevin Barry, Donal Ryan and John McGahern as her favorite authors.

Helena is currently working on her first collection of short stories.
